How the routes are made: the churches are points from OpenStreetMap. The line between them comes from the OpenStreetMap foot routing service (OSRM foot profile, routing.openstreetmap.de). Each stretch was checked against the OpenStreetMap way it uses, and routes needing long stretches of road were dropped. Distances are measured along that line; times assume 4.5 km/h with no stops. Heights come from the Copernicus EU-DEM (25 m) via OpenTopoData.
